Goods worth about 200,000 lei, withheld by customs employees
The employees of the Petricani Customs Terminal, together with the risk analysts, prevented an attempt to place more goods on the market without paying the customs duties. By acting on the basis of the risk analysis, they redirected the red customs passage on the name of an entrepreneur, previously investigated for other violations of customs legislation.
Thus, in the framework of physical control, customs officers detected several batches of assortment pieces, footwear, curtains, toys and other items for children that were not indicated in the statement made by the company's representatives.
Preliminary documents revealed that the goods were brought from the United States of America. Their value was estimated at about 200,000 lei.
The consignments were unavailable until research was completed and a final decision was made on this case. Depending on the results of the investigations, the customs authority may order the confiscation of goods or their clearance and the payment of import duties. In both cases, the law also provides for the payment of a fine that may range from 40% to 100% of the value of the goods retained.
