Minister Tudor Ulianovschi met with Chairman of Commission for Conservation of American Patrimony Abroad
Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, had a meeting with the President of the Commission for the Conservation of American Heritage Abroad, Paul Packer, on a working visit to Moldova.
During the discussion, the sides discussed the bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America, as well as cooperation with the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), relations with the Jewish World Congress and other relevant organizations. The progress made by our country in the implementation of the Action Plan on the implementation of the Declaration of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova on the acceptance of the Report of the International Commission on the Study of the Holocaust, chaired by Elie Wiesel in particular, focussed on the priority areas of education and memory of the victims of the Holocaust, combating anti-Semitism, improving national legislation in the field, etc.
Minister Tudor Ulianovschi thanked the president of the American Heritage Conservation Commission abroad for the support given to our country to achieve the objectives set out in the Action Plan.
In turn, Paul Packer welcomed the positive dynamics in the evolution of Moldovan-American relations and appreciated the results achieved by the Republic of Moldova in building a society in the spirit of tolerance, non-discrimination and observance of the rights of citizens of all ethnicities and confirmed the availability of the Commission for the Conservation of American Patrimony across the Horn to support our country's efforts in implementing the reform agenda.
The American Heritage Conservation Commission was set up by US President Ronald Reagan in 1985 to promote the preservation and restoration of monuments associated with the history of the United States. In recent years, the Commission's work has focused on the heritage in Eastern Europe, destroyed during the Holocaust. The Commission is currently carrying out a series of projects to restore Jewish cemeteries in the Republic of Belarus, Poland and Ukraine.
