Director Viorel Mardare, recently diagnosed with cancer, appreciated the gesture of the authorities, which gave him, by way of exception, the National Prize. The announcement was by his sister, Angela Mardare Titencov, in a post on facebook.
She wrote that the director recently began treatment in Austria and that the news about the National Prize encouraged Viorel.
"I felt her courage, especially when she started joking, as she did when the emotions surpassed her, and wrote the director's sister.
His candidacy was proposed by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, who stated that his gesture is a sign of appreciation for the talent and creation of the artist. The director and another 9 people with remarkable achievements will be rewarded with 100,000 lei.
