15 citizens of Moldova are tried in France for stealing at least 250 luxury bicycles between 2014 - 2015.

The trial begun today, while the first sitting will take place on Thursday. According to authorities from France, the total damage is estimated to be close to one million euro.

Law enforcement believe the criminal group, made out of Moldovans, broke into around 60 bicycle shops. To avoid being discovered, they would enter the buildings by cutting the roof. 

All stolen bicycles were then dissembled and shipped to Moldova, from where they were sold to countries from Eastern Europe. In September 2015, the French police, supported by Europol, arrested 13 members of the group.

Later, in May 2016, law enforcement from France came to Moldova and along with the local police, they arrested another 3 suspects.
