Teachers will have bigger salaries starting with 1 September 2016. The salaries will be increased with 8.6%. The decision was adopted by the Parliament. Together with this increase, the teachers’ salaries will reach the level of the average salary in economy, which for this year is 5,050 lei.

The document foresees the increase of teachers’ salaries in schools and universities. For school teachers, the salaries will be between 2,150 and 2,995 lei, and for university professors between 2,995 and 5,370 lei.

Last year the average monthly pay for a professor reached 4,650 lei. In order to ensure the increase, the state budget will give 85 million lei for first three months.
