Starting from today, 22 children with special needs will learn in the first unit of Inclusive Ediucation in the country, created by "Petre Stefanuca" highschool in Ialoveni town.  

The program is a first for the Moldova's education and through this was students will integrate gradually in the study, The project was funded by an United Kingdom NGO and Ialoveni District Council.

Leonid Popa is 15-year-old and is moving only with the help of a trolley. The boy, originally from Văsieni village, Ialoveni district, was enrolled in the seventh grade. Even if he was nervous the first time, Leonid was one of the most active students.

"My country is Moldova, beautiful, I'll never get out of here. I want study at the police academy. To be champion of the country, to help people in need" ,  said student Leonid Popa.

Due to health problems, Leonid didn't really managed to attend school in his native village. Now, however, the boy's mother hopes her son will get quality education.

Children will benefit from rooms for exercises and procedures to treat health problems.

The other high school students say they will help their colleagues.

The 22 students with special needs who have between six and 16-year-old, can go to the other hours, organized in high school, and accompanied by a specialist.

"They will have the opportunity to learn in a regular school. Obviously they will go in a classroom with students,  depending on their possibilities and needs, based on a individualized education plan" , said "Petre Stefanuca" school principal,  Vera Balan.

The program will run until 2019. The project cost is approximately eight million lei.
