Government readies draconian decision for alcohol producers and retailers

The radio and TV stations won’t be allowed to broadcast ads about alcoholic beverages during daytime. The advertising of these will be also forbidden in print and online media.
The provisions are in draft decision of the Government. According to the draft, promoting alcohol, beer included, will be banned on radio and TV from 06:00 through 22.00.
The producers and importers of drinks won’t be allowed to sponsor events for people under the age of 18.
Such advertising will be also forbidden in public transport and cinemas.
According to the Health Ministry, 85 % of Moldovan men and over 70 % of women consume alcoholic drinks. The majority of those preferring beer are younger than 30.
