The Moldovan president has inked a decree withdrawing the Moldovan citizenship to Romania’s ex-president Traian Basescu.

The decree does not mention anything about Basescu’s wife, Maria, who is also a Moldovan citizen.

PUBLIKA.MD reminder: Traian Băsescu and his wife obtained Moldovan citizenship on June 9 2016. He waited but three months to secure the citizenship, although the legal term is one year.

Igor Dodon promised in the fall presidential election he would withdraw Basescu’s Moldovan citizenship.
