The EU will further back up Moldova, and these relations won’t be impacted by choosing a new president. Premier Pavel Filip gave the assurance at the talk show Fabrika on Publiak TV yesterday evening.

The Cabinet chief said the Government wanted good cooperation with Presiden t Igor Dodon, to do good things together to the citizens’ benefit. 

"I don’t want any co-habitation with the President, by no means a confrontation. But the statements Mr. Dodon has made do not sound good. And they cannot have practical effects here in Chişinău. That’s why I’d like these statements to be slightly more tempered, especially the ones relating to the Association Accord. We’ll try and talk to find common points on issues highly important for Moldova," Filip said.

Pavel Filip also pointed out the relations both with the EU and with Russia can be reserved and developed without being affected mutually.

"Moldova has bilateral relations with the Russian Federation and all our relations must be discussed in this prospect. And Moldova has relations with the EU and we’ll decide by ourselves how to build those relations. Serbia has similar relations with the EU as Moldova and, at the same time, a free trade agreement with Russia and there is no problem," the Prime Minister stated.

He said he would meet President Igor Dodon and Parliament President Andrian Candu to discuss further steps and improvement of the situation to the benefit of the country and citizens.
