Tens of residents from the district of Ciocana have gathered today, 7th of January, to protest the construction of several buildings right next to their homes.
While the people claim that the construction are illegal, representatives of the construction companies have assured that all their papers are in check. The city hall has ordered the construction to halt until the situation is clarified.
The protesters insist that the new buildings will take up the last portion of free space they still have left:
“Here, up until now, there was a parkland. We live here since 1995. Everyone in here has a tree planted that we were taking care of.”
“They should not be building here, right next to where us the inhabitants live. Our kids have nowhere to play, they took it all, look at them, building right under our windows, this should not be allowed.”
Representatives of the construction company, on the other hand say that all their papers are in check.
“Everything here is legitimate, we have the plan, we have permission and all the necessary documents. Here, we have the approval of all the necessary institutions, look. This place was deserted, there were only some trees in here, not a playground for kids or anything.” , stated Iurii Cemirtan, the site chief.
The mayor of the municipality of Chisinau, Dorin Chirtoaca issued a disposition demanding that the construction stop temporarily until further settlement of the case.
Two five story building are to be built on the above mentioned site.
