Orchestra plays farewell to Norwegian law experts on completion of mission to Moldova
A team of Norwegian law experts have been seen off from Moldova at a ceremony which included orchestra. They have worked on reforming justice in Moldova for ten years, especially targeting the penitentiary system.
"We have managed to accomplish a lot here, especially at three penitentiaries: the ones for people sentenced to life terms in Rezina, the one for minors from Goian and the one for women in Rusca," said the head of the team Siri Fjortoft.
"We, the employees of the Penitentiary Institution Department (DIP) have learnt a lot from them and they have delivered to us everything from the bottom of their heart and we have tried to assimilate everything," said Aureliu Suhan, the acting chief of the DIP.
"It’s a new vision on a modern, European penitentiary system. We’ll try and implement the new provision of the execution regulation," said Curea, who’s responsible with the education sector in the DIP.
The mission’s projects amount to EUR10 million and half of this sum has been invested to make the Moldovan jails better.
