This astonishing footage shows a plane drawing a giant outline of itself in the skies above America.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner travelled an incredible 4,000 miles to sketch out its shape on radar after being cleared to carry out the unusual mission.

 The plane, which was performing an elaborate PR stunt, began its route from Boeing's headquarters in Seattle, Washington at 11pm (BST) yesterday.

 Flight BOE004 then took 17 hours to complete the drawing, while cruising at 41,000ft.

 Aviation fans were able to follow the outline as it was created on live GPS data on the tracking site Radarbox.
