Nistor Grozavu officially took over the duties of the mayor general of Chisinau. He has already signed some provisions in this new posture. The announcement was made today after the Town Hall's weekly meeting.

Grozavu also mentioned that he also discussed with some municipal councilors, who will continue to support him.

"I have signed all the provisions that are necessary for the proper functioning of the city hall, including salaries of collaborators and other documents that are strictly necessary. I will try to ensure the continuity and smooth running of those activities that are planned in the municipal budget," said interim mayor Nistor Grozavu.

Nistor Grozavu was asked to take over the position of interim general mayor after Dorin Chirtoaca was suspended from office until a definitive decision has been given in the case he is tried for.

Chisinau city hall mayor is being investigated in an influence traffic and passive corruption case.

According to the legislation, in such situations the interim office must be carried out by one of the deputy mayors.
