Vlad Filat complained to the European Court of Human Rights.

The former Liberal-Democrat prime minister is dissatisfied with the fact that his public image has been damaged, as he had to be on the halls of the courthouse and accompanied by a large number of masked men.

At the same time, Filat considers that the conviction decision issued by Moldovan magistrates is illegal. The announcement of the former premier's decision was made by his lawyer, Igor Popa, on a social network.

Former Prime Minister Vlad Filat was sentenced to jail of 9 years last year, and is now serving his sentence in Prison no. 13 of the Capital. The judges also decided to seize the assets acquired illegally, including cars, luxury houses, land in the center of Chisinau, as well as shares in Kapital Invest and Ipteh. Their value amounted to almost one billion lei.

He was also forced to pay a fine of 60 thousand lei and was denied public office for five years.

Vlad Filat was detained in October 2015 on the basis of a mandate issued by the National Anti-Corruption Center. This was after the deputies left him without parliamentary immunity, at the request of the general prosecutor, to be investigated in a criminal case for passive corruption and influence peddling.
