Moldovan boxers Vasile Belous and Alexei Zavatin will represent the Republic of Moldova at the World Championships scheduled in Hamburg city of German from 25 August to 2 September.
Originating from Unguri village, Ocniţa district, Belous will compete in 69 kg-category. He wants to become the first Moldovan pugilist to win the World Cup.
He won the bronze medal at European Championships in Kharkov, Ukraine in this June.
"I will strive to bring to Moldova a medal from the World Championships. This will absolutely give us a sense of pride", said boxer Vasile Belous.
The best super-heavyweight boxer from Moldova, Alexei Zavatin, originating from Măgdăceşti, Criuleni district, will participate in the Boxing Worlds for the second time in his career. In 2013 Zavatin was defeated by a German athlete in the first round, but this time he hopes for a different result.
Before the World Championships in Hamburg, the Moldovan boxers held two training camps at Grimăncăuţi.
"We did not have a doctor, but that's how the teams from other countries are preparing, but even in these conditions, the boys are in good shape," said the coach of the national boxing team, Petru Caduc.
At the competition in Germany, there will be 280 pugilists from 86 countries of the world in all weight categories.
