The Stefan cel Mare si Sfint Boulevard from our capital is gaining a new face. The painting of road markings begun last evening on Ismail and Puskin Street. The works were made during the night, in order to avoid creating traffic, while the circulation was managed by the National Patrol Inspectorate.
A new feature in the road marking is the bicycle track. The main boulevard will be the first one from our city to have it.
“There are many new elements, we are making for the first time bicycle tracks for cyclists. We are working at full strength and managed to finish in a week”, deputy chairman of “Exdrupo”, Stefan Radu, said.
For the creation of road markings on the central boulevard were allocated two million lei. For their creation was used ordinary paint, the representatives from the Ministry of Transportation promise that next year, paint of better quality will be used.
“We used ordinary paint on Stefan cel Mare, because we want to see how it will be accepted by the traffic, next year we will use paint of better quality that will last longer”, Oleg Poiata, chief of the Ministry of Transport, said.
The equipment used for road marking was rather old, still the workers coped with the situation.
Some drivers are doubting how long the markings will last, while other are unhappy with the placement of the road signs.
“It is no wonder that the marking will be covered with dust and wear out, with all the dirt and stones surrounding it.”
“The works should have begun long ago, as it is chaos here during the day. The question tough is whether or not the markings will last.”
The warranty period of those markings is six months. The work will continue the following nights, while during the day road signs will be installed.
