Moscow's reaction to Moldova's request to UN regarding withdrawal of Russian troops from Transnistria
Moscow is criticizing Chisinau's decision to request UN to discuss at the next meeting the subject of withdrawing the Russian troops from Transnistria. Vasili Nebenzea, Russia’s representative at UN, claims that Moldova’s request is both unfriendly and unexpected.
The diplomat, like the head of state Igor Donon, was not able to interpret Chisinau’s letter correctly. While Nebenzea claims that Moldova requests the withdrawal of the peace maintaining military, our representative at UN demands the removal of the task force which is illegally situated on the territory of the separatist region. We are talking about the last remnant of the 14th Army, left in the Republic of Moldova to guard the ammunition storage in Cobasna.
Chisinau send on Wednesday a letter to the UN, where they request to include in the next General Meeting the subject of withdrawal of Russian troops from Moldova, which will take place on the 12th of September.
At the end of July, Chisinau’s legislature also adopted a declaration where they request Moscow to retreat its military troops from Transnistria.
