The variety of recovery food given to blood donor will rise.  Authorities plan to invest more money into the cause, doubling the food's cost and making it amount to 100 lei.

This project will be proposed by the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, during the next Cabinet of Minister's meeting.

The aim of this project is to make sure that blood donors remain healthy and are provided food with the necessary quantity of proteins, carbohydrates and lipids. The ministry hopes that by taking better care of the donor's health will increase their numbers.

At the moment the recovery food provided by blood collecting centers contains apple or grape juice, chicken paté, sardines in oli and condensed milk.

79 thousand blood donations were registered in Moldova last year.
