His Excellency, Masanobu Yoshii, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Chişinău today paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment where he met with Minister Vasile Bîtca and discussed the development project of the conservative agriculture in the Republic of Moldova under the program Grants entitled "The Social and Economic Development Program", provided by technical assistance from the Government of Japan.

The project was initiated by both governments this year on March 7, 2017. 

During the talks, the Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, Vasile Bîtca expressed his gratitude for the support offered to our country and reiterated the willingness to cooperate for the development of the Moldovan agriculture.

"I am glad to have a trusted partner and I am sure we will continue to develop concrete projects for our farmers, in order to develop country regions.

"I am glad that this year we are initiating a project for the development of the conservative agriculture and the development of a sustainable soil management system, which is of special importance to us, "said Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Vasile Bîtca.

His Excellency, for his part, mentioned Japan's interest in our country, making a short overview of the areas where Japanese investors would like to develop a cooperation with the Republic of Moldova, especially in the fields of agriculture and health.

"Through the project, about 4.8 million dollars will be provided as a grant in the agricultural field.

"Thus, within this project, the Government of Japan will offer 106 tractors to the Republic of Moldova.

"We are also willing to offer support to farmers in your country and we want to increase the import of wheat and wine from the Republic of Moldova, as business people in Japan have a special interest in wines from your country. In this respect, we are interested in initiating joint projects, "said his Excellency, during talks with Minister Vasile Bîcca.

Likewise, officials have talked about the benefits of conservative agriculture, stating that farmers' use of modern agricultural technologies is designed to ensure sustainable agriculture, adapted to climate change.
