Moldova is placed on 62 of 130 countries of the world in human capital development, says The Human Capital Report 2017, published by World Economic Forum. 

Accordingly, only 62% of global human capital is currently developed. 

The Global Human Capital Index 2017 ranks 130 countries on how well they are developing their human capital on a scale from 0 (worst) to 100 (best) across four thematic dimensions and five distinct age groups to capture the full human capital potential profile of a country.

It aims to be used as a tool to assess progress within countries and point to opportunities for cross-country learning and exchange.

The leading countries in the report are Finland, Switzerland, U.S.A, Denmark, Germany, New Zealand, Sweden, Slovenia and Austria. 

In the ranking, only 25 states exceed the rate of 70%, and another 50, including Romania, have between 60 and 70%.

The best positioned countries in Central and Eastern Europe are Slovenia (9th place) and Estonia (12th place), the only ones in this region that enter the Top 20.

From the point of view of the regions, North America and Western Europe record the highest percentages, while South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa are the areas with the greatest waste of human capital.

The Eastern Europe and Central Asian region rank third, after North America and Western Europe, with an average score of 67.36%
