Andrei Năstase and Maia Sandu stand on different grounds regarding Dorin Chirtoacă's dismissal
Andrei Năstase has a different option than Maia Sandu and Vlad Plahotniuc. While the two party leaders have announced that they boycott the city mayor dismissal referendum, leader of PPDA claims that his party will stay neutral.
"It is nothing new. Citizens of Chisinau will be the ones to decided the outcome, by voting yes or no, or even standing idle" Andrei Năstase declared.
PDM has announced on Tuesday that they will not participate in the referendum meant to forcefully remove from office Mayor Dorin Chirtoacă. According to their spokesman, Vitalie Gamurari, this decision is solely a political one and has nothing to do with the citizen's needs.
Recently other far-right parties, PL, PAS and PUN, have also announced that they will boycott the referendum meant to dismiss Chirtoacă.
Chisinau Municipal Council has established that the referendum will take place on 19th November, after the Socialist party has managed to collect 70 thousand signatures supporting the initiative.
For the Mayor of the Capital to be forcefully dismissed, at least 163 thousand votes are required.
According to the Central Electoral Commission, the referendum will cost the state budget nearly 9 million lei.
