A 55-year-old man became victim of a hit-and-run. The accident, caused by a 50-year-old driver, took place at Vasile Alecsandri Street from Cahul town.

According to law enforcement, the man deceased before help could arrive and only a few hours after the accident, the driver was found at home.

The driver confessed of having hit a pedestrian and fleeing. The man is suspected of having been drunk during the accident, following examination will address this claim.

The man was arrested and will be investigated according to law.

In this context, National Patrol Inspectorate reminds drivers that in case of accident they are required to:

- Stop the vehicle;

- To not move the car and the object from the road where the accident happened;

- To offer first aid and call for an ambulance if someone was injured and in case of emergency transport the victim with own vehicle to nearest hospital, then return to site.
