FAO and Moldova signed two memorandums of understanding to assist rural development
Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment has signed two memorandums of understanding with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. According to it, 455 thousand US dollars will be provided to train farmers how to grow berries.
"The project will support creating a plate for introducing and implementing new innovative technology and boost the access to information and services for implementing those techniques for farmers" Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, Vasile Bîtca said.
The second project is concentrating on rural development.
"The project's priorities are to support competitiveness among farmers, support natural resources management and eliminating climate risks and sustainable development" FAO representative, Raimund Jehle announced.
The projects have a budget of 800 thousand US dollars and will be implemented by the end of 2019. For the past three years, Republic of Moldova had gained advice and technical assistance from FAO in the agriculture domain, amounting to two million US dollars.
