Botanica locals suffocate with unbearable odor from block basement
Residents of a block in the Botanica District of the Capital suffocate in their own apartments because of the unbearable odor coming from the basement of the building. The room was filled with household waste due to a damage.
Two weeks ago, the sewer pipes were ceded, and the basement was flooded. City Hall workers evacuated waste water, but refused to cleanse the dirt. Unbearable smell reaches up to the five-floor apartments.
Residents are dissatisfied with the situation because they pay monthly for the block service.
"A bad smell, I could not come in, my eyes were pricked".
People say such incidents happen frequently, because the pipes in the basement are very old. The last crash occurred in the summer.
"We addressed the housing-communal enterprise, but nothing is being done. The basement is filled with dirt, different rats or insects."
On the other hand, the management of the block says that the complainants' discontent is unfounded. Moreover, the authorities accuse people of tossing diapers and other things that block the sewer system.
"What the villagers demand that we evacuate the faeces in the basement, we physically can not accomplish this work, because we do not have such equipment," said an employee of ÎMGFL no. 2, Anatolie Rosca.
The block where the 20 families live is from 1964, and sewer pipes have never been changed.
