Reason why half of institutions from Gagauzia are not prepared to fulfill program according to free meals for pupils
Over than a half of the schools from Gagauzia are not prepared to implement the program according to the free feeding of the pupils, that should be implemented from January 1. The main cause of this is the lack of necessary spaces.
At the Valentin Mascov Lyceum from Ceadar-Lunga study 745 pupils, 450 of them are in the gymnasium and the others at the lyceum. The administration of the institution says that a separate building is required to build a canteen.
"We don't have the necessary tools in the canteen that we own. Also, we don't have enough space to feed all the pupils", mentioned Elizaveta Buzungi, the deputy director of Valentin Mascov lyceum from Ceadar-Lunga.
The institution needs to employ additional stuff.
"We need at least two cookers and a dishwasher. It is very hard to feed 740 pupils. But, if we manage to do it, then we will have a menu", said Ana Supac, cooker.
The pupils can't wait forward to have a canteen at the lyceum.
"When we see that our younger colleagues go to the canteen we also want to eat."
"The pupils get tired and they need to eat to gain energy."
According to the Education Direction of Gagauzia, the schools should equip their canteens till the end of 2018.
"If an institution requires tools, the leading should buy those and provide the necessary conditions",declared Tatiana Ikizli, the deputy director of Education Direction of Gagauzia.
The statistics show that the majority of the pupils from Gagauzia suffer from gastric diseases. In the autonomy district there are 460 cases of this at ten thousand citizens. In the other zones of the country, there are 350 people with gastric diseases at ten thousand people. The healthy food can solve those problems."
The popular meeting of Gagauzia voted the project of law according to the free meals for all the students, in November. There were allocated almost 16 million lei for developing this sphere in Gagauzia. In the region there are 44 educational institutions that host 14 thousand pupils, 8 300 of them study in the gymnasiums and lyceums.
