Over 900 explosive objects from Second World War neutralized
During 2017, the National Army's geniuses neutralized approximately 900 explosive objects from the Second World War, all over the country.
According to Colonel Mihail Bucliş, commander of the Land Forces Command, the genius teams, made up of the Gendarmerie Military, the "Moldova" Brigades and "Dacia", executed 171 missions, during which they dismantled 868 ammunition.
Most explosive objects - mine bombs, 82 and 120 mm caliber, 76, 100 and 120 mm guns, aviation bombs, cartridges and hand grenades - were discovered in the localities of Ştefan Vodă, Căuşeni, Criuleni, Ungheni and in the Balti and Chisinau municipalities.
Colonel Bucliş mentioned that the largest ammunition arsenal - 43 artillery missiles, 76 mm caliber, 40 RPG-40 hand grenades, 106 cartridges, 12 mm caliber and an artillery shell, were discovered in November , on a construction site from Aerodromului Street in Balti.
The geniuses of the "Moldova" Brigade have transported the munitions to the training center of the unit, where they destroyed them in maximum security.
At the same time, in December, the Codru Battalion team headed to Puhăceni, Anenii Noi district, where they destroyed five 50 kilogram aviation bombs found in the neighboring sandy quarry.
