Last preparation for Christmas in Moldovan factories and households
Christmas on old style already knocks on our doors and the women are preparing the holiday table for it. They cook the traditional cakes and cookies.
In Sangerei town, the preparations are ongoing. Nina Miron says she will have food made of meat on her holiday table.
"We make the traditional sarmale, minced meat croquette. We have a rooster and I will boil it."
The woman prepares the traditional bread called "Craciunel" for the holiday. She says the tradition dates since long ago.
"I woke up at 6 am and made the dough and prepared everything. It should rest for two hours, time when we set the fire and prepare the bred", said Nina Miron.
Her husband also helps her. The man says they cook the best bread in their oven.
"I set the fire and my wife is doing the dough. When she prepares the dough I set the fire", said Vasile Miron
In the pastry factories there is very busy now. At the biggest pastry factory from the country there are baked 35 thousand Craciunei daily.
"We make it of dough."
"After the dough rests, we put it in the oven. It is ready after 20 minutes."
The bakers say the Cracinei smell very good, so they can't wait forward for the holiday to come.
"Of course we try it. How can we not do this?"
The Craciunei are processed at the steam bath.
The representatives of the factories need to work 24/24, to face all the demands.
"We work on shifts, to face all the working volume. The requests are higher and higher from year to year", said Victor Voluta, baker.
In the stores, the craciunei cost five lei. The popular tradition says that the first craciunel should be put to an icon till the spring comes.
