Flames causing chaos. Man from Nisporeni was hospitalized with burns covering over 70% of his body
A 36-year-old man from Nisporeni, was hospitalized this morning with over 70% of his body covered in burns, after he suffered from deflagrations due to a gas cylinder.
According to the victim, the incident took place when he tried to lit up a cigarette in the bathroom, where there was a gas leak from the stove.
The man's wife claims that they left stove open for the night, to let the freshly installed tiles dry faster.
"We closed the door and let the gas free. When he went in there with a cigarette it exploded" the victim's wife, Svetlana Petrici said.
The explosion threw the man back a few meters. The building where they lived with two daughters, of 4 and 6, was fortunately not destroyed.
"His brother was there at the time. Luckily the girls were farther away from the bathroom, but still, they saw him burned and smoke coming out of him" Svetlana Petrici said.
Shocked relatives are waiting for news at the hospital.
"He is my brother and it is painful. We hope to go to the hospital and get some news about him."
Doctors claim that the man is stable.
"The patient was burned by the flames and gained a concussion, from the explosion. We understand that it was powerful, as the door flew off its hinges" surgeon from Nisporeni Hospital, Eugen Florea said.
In the second case, a 21-year-old young man from Floreni village, Anenii Noi, was caught in an explosion. Nearby houses were left intact.
