South Korea’s tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. announced on Feb. 7 that it has decided to build a new semiconductor production line in the country’s western port city of Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.
Samsung is expected to spend about 29.6 trillion won (US$27.2 billion) on the new chip plant, which is to be located near its first semiconductor production line in Pyeongtaek, taking into account that it has made a similar investment in setting up the first Pyeongtaek line, according to industry sources.
