Hillary Clinton decries 'war on truth, facts and reason'
Hillary Clinton told attendees at the Makers Conference that "we're in the midst of a war on truth, facts and reason".
The former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee made a live video address from New York on Wednesday to the annual women's conference held in Los Angeles.
She encouraged women to get involved in politics.
"We are living through an all-out assault on core values of democracy, free speech, the rule of law. We are in the midst of war on truth, facts and reason," she said.
Clinton called for Americans to "do something about it by insisting on accuracy from elected leaders and the press -- and holding them accountable when they fail to meet that standard".
Clinton noted that "we still have a long way to go" with regard to women's rights, but praised the moves women have taken and encouraged them to continue raising their voices.
The former presidential candidate, Secretary of State and First Lady pledged to continue lending her voice to the advancement of women's rights.
The annual conference brings together advocates for women's rights from tech, entertainment, business and nonprofits.
Other speakers this year included Natalie Portman, Ava DuVernay, Kumail Nanjiani, Emily V. Gordon, Jessica Biel, Lena Waithe and Karlie Kloss.
