Border incidents over the past week

Between 4 February – 11 February 2018 the following illegal acts were registered at borders:
- 65 people attempted to illegally cross the border;
- 9 people attempted to cross using forged documents;
- 8 drivers documented for illegal movement of goods and people;
- 18 foreign citizen have overstayed in Republic of Moldova;
- 6 attempts of smuggling;
- 6 driver breached the traffic law;
As a result, 106 cases were opened, where a total of 46 100 lei were applied as fines, out of which 18 350 lei were already cashed in.
During last week, 52 foreign citizens, as well as 50 vehicles were refused entry into Republic of Moldova. At the same time, 1 citizen of Moldova was deported from Russia. Another 3 citizens of Moldova were refused entrance into Russia, while another 7 into European Union.
At the same time, 294 994 people have crossed the border, among whom 150 739 have left Republic of Moldova. The number of vehicles that crossed the borders amounts to 76 133, most having foreign registration plates - 38 617 vehicles.
Most popular crossing points were:
Leușeni – 48 008 people crossed the border,
Otaci – 35 939 people crossed the border,
Chisinau International Airport - 38 400 people crossed the border,
Sculeni – 40 134 people crossed the border,
Giurgiulești-Galați - 24 027 people crossed the border,
Criva – 17 600 people crossed the border.
In order to ease traffic, Custom Services urge citizens to use all crossing points and not favor one above the other. At the same time, before heading out, use the ”TRAFIC ONLINE” application offered on the Custom Services official web page to see the real time situation at borders for all types of vehicles.
