Soldiers killed within Afganistan war commemorated today by Ministry of Internal Affairs
In the context of Commemorating the Soldiers of Afganistan War, the leading of Internal Ministry had a meeting with the veterans of this war, who are former and actual employees of MAI. The ministry thanked them for their courage, devotion and their activity within the Ministry.
At the meeting participated: Alexandru Jizdan, the minister of Internal Affairs, the general State Secretary, Simion Carp, the main State adviser of the Prime Minister, Ion Coropcean, the President of the Republic Union of the Afganistan War Soldiers, Mihail Mocanu, Victor Alergus, deputy President and other 22 veterans.
Only a man who had to pass the wars can understand the real taste of peace, only the one who took in his hands a gun and defended his colleagues can understand knows the price of life. You are the people who should read life, patriotism and courage lessons to the new generations. We will support you in the future and try to help you solve the issues you are facing with", said Alexandru Jizdan, the minister of Internal Affairs.
As a thanksgiving for their sacrifice, courage and self dedication within the war, the veterans received prizes and awards from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the veteran Grigore Jizdan, who is ill and Victor Lavrentov's wife received a special title. At the same time, they received thanksgiving letters from the Afganistan Veterans Union.
Within the ministry there was organized an exhibition that presented information about each veteran.
According to the statistics, within the Afganistan war participated approximately 13 thousand Moldovans, 301 among which died, four disappeared and other 257 were injured. The war lasted a decade, between 1979 and 1989.
