The validity period of the Moldovan citizen's passport could be extended from 7 to 10 years for persons over the age of 16. The Parliament voted today's amendments to the legislation on identity papers in the national passport system at first reading. The project also excluded the blood group from the identity card, the passport of the Moldovan citizen, the diplomatic passport and from the official passport.
Other changes imply the exclusive use of the signature of the holder who has reached the age of 14 - the age required to acquire limited exercise capacity. And in the case of the holder under the age of 14 and of the person who can not apply his signature, he will apply a special symbol under the conditions established by the Government.
It is also proposed to exclude the word "nationality" from civil status acts, and mandatory issuance of the identity card should be from the age of 16.
