ANSA: Dairy products manufactures who use vegetable fats without announcing could be fined
Dairy products companies who use vegetable fats without warning the costumers about it can remain without license. A proposal in this sense was made by the National Agency for Food Safety and was discussed by the Agricultural Commission in alimentary industry of the Parliament.
The authorities request to raise the fines.
"We want the legislation to permit us to fine those who break the law and don't warn the costumers abut using vegetable fats. Thus, the law can withdraw their license for a period", said Ion Toma, ANSA deputy director.
The deputies think that vegetable fats selling should be premised, but only if the products will lay on separate shelves in the market.
"As members of the commission we are ready to approve the modification of the Contravention Code, so the Moldovan manufactures will be fined", said Ion Balan, the President of the Agricultural Commission.
Some of the commission's members think that the manufactures' names who break the law should be published.
"It would be better if we would publish the results and the fine won't be necessary. These products will be falsified", said Nicolae Olaru, the member of the Agricultural Commission in alimentary industry.
The manufactures arrived in the public visor, after an international company made a study that proved that some of the dairy products contain big quantities of vegetable fats. ANSA verified over 200 products and in 11 cases they found encroachments. As a result, three tones and a half of dairy products were withdrawn from selling. Two companies from Ukraine and one from Romania were forbidden on Moldovan market.
