United States will support Chisinau on the European Integration path
The United States will support Chisinau in its efforts to reunite the Republic of Moldova and condemns Russia's aggression in the region. The statements were made by US officials, who attended the Regional Security Summit "Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine", yesterday.
Officials from the Overseas, who had meetings with PDM leader, Vlad Plahotniuc, said they would continue to support the European path of Moldova.
"We have the opportunity to support states that are held hostage on the road to Russia, a country that has occupied parts of their territory. All of these countries face the same difficult attempts of internal reformation but also with the obstacles posed by the Eastern neighbor" , said Atlantic Council Executive President Damon Wilson.
"I will do my best to represent Moldova in order to defend its integrity. The United States supports Chisinau and we will do everything in our power to help you," said former US ambassador to Moldova Asif Chaudhry.
"The US position, through its Foreign Affairs Committee, is that territorial integrity is binding for all three countries and that these states are occupied by foreign power, and this is unacceptable," said US Congressman Teo Poe .
At the summit's closing ceremony, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu gave his Georgia and Ukrainian counterparts medals for democracy. The Executive Vice President of the Atlantic Council, Damon Wilson, was also elected.
"We have decided to join together for a very important purpose, to work together and to become stronger. I want to thank everyone for this support," said Andrian Candu, President of Parliament.
