Nicolae Negru: PDM made realistic proposal and PPDA found itself offside
Dignity and Truth Platform Party (PPDA) Leader, Andrei Năstase, was hasty to announce candidacy for Chisinau Mayor, and now his party found itself offside after Vlad Plahotniuc's announcement that PDM would support the joint pro-European candidate. This opinion belongs to the columnist of the National Newspaper, Nicolae Negru.
According to the columnist, PDM leader has mad a realistic proposal, and now Andrei Năstase found himself in the situation "who breaks the pro-European forces."
"Nastase wants to force other parties to accept him as a single candidate, but the PDM's announcement overwhelms the electoral plans. It's better to suspend his candidacy and participate other pro-European parties in the negotiations on the join candidate. It's difficult to identify a joint candidate unless Năstase suspends his candidacy and sit down with other pro-European party leaders to find a join candidate", said Nicolae Negru.
The political analyst added that if no joint candidate is nominated, then PDM can forward an independent candidate who untied with the party led by Vlad Plahotniuc
"If Party of Action and Solidarity, the National Unity Party, the PPDA, the Liberal Party and the European People's Party in Moldova do not identify a common candidate before the first round, then the Democrats could submit an independent candidate that can not be" tied up "to the PDM. Plahotniuc is trying to straighten the local elections on the face of the geopolitical confrontation from the very first round," according National Newspaper.
Nicolae Negru referred to PPDA's first statement, Alexandru Slusari, who said that Plahotniuc's offer would be "a poisoned apple", writes ziarulnaţional.md.
"Slusari says that Năstase is not going to take into account what the other parties want, and he does exactly as Plahotniuc anticipated that he would support the candidate identified by PAS, PUN, PPDA, PL and PPEM", concluded the columnist.
