Doctor from Chisinau was beaten nearly to death by husband of a deceased patient
The doctor from Municipal Hospital No. 1, who was beaten by the husband of a deceased patient, thinks of quitting her job. Ala Valenga recalls how she was hit with fists and legs by a man. That person became violent after finding our that his wife, who had a weak heart, passed away.
At the moment, the doctor is hospitalized in the Emergency Ward with cerebral concussion and a few broken ribs.
"I felt someone approaching me from behind, they grabbed my hair and threw me to the ground. I could not understand what was happening. I am thinking of quitting working in this hospital. My people, my family, they wish for me to leave thid place" Ala Valenga said.
Patients, who witnessed the incident claim that the man and his son begun a scandal in the institution's halls:
"They run around the hall, afterward I heard someone scream and cry. We all saw it. Even if someone passed away during the night, is it worthy a beating? They threatened the doctor, said that if she will make a sound they will kill her."
"We were in the room and heard the commotion in the hall. I do not believe it was the doctor's fault, as they take care of us akin to small children."
Nurses claim that they were scared. They claim that they are often cursed by patients or their relatives: "Yes we got scared and thinking about going back to work, on a 24 hour shift, I think of what could happen."
The aggressor's wife was hospitalized a few days before. Still, on Sunday morning, she passed away after a heart attack. The institution's administration claims that doctors have done everything they could to save her.
"Without asking for explanations, or find out what happened, the man attacked a doctor, the first one he saw. Recently, the staff became harassed on a daily basis" hospital's spokeswoman Cristina Ipati said.
Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection condemns the incidents. General Secretary of State, Boris Gîlca, wrote on Facebook that they will collaborate with responsible authorities within this investigation.
