Official from Moldova sentenced to 14 years behind bars for espionage and treason

Iurie Bolboceanu, the former deputy was sentenced to 14 years in prison without parole. The sentence was given by the Chisinau Court. The former deputy was found guilty for treason and espionage.
PUBLIKA.MD reminds that the former parliamentary was recruited in the autumn of 2016 by the Information Direction of Russian Defense Ministry, the well-known Foreign Espionage Service.
Iurie Bolboceanu should have gathered information of national interest, inclusively information regarding important national strategies and personal information of the officials.
Also, the former deputy was offering information about the way of implementing the Association Agreement and the legislative plans.
Bolboceanu was imprisoned in March, after he transmitted some files to the Russian Embassy in Chisinau.
