Liberal Party has announced that the party's deputy president, Valeriu Munteanu was voted by the majority to run for Mayor. The announcement was made on a social network.

Munteanu was a deputy for the past six year and was also the Minister of Environment during 2015 - 2017. He is married and has four children.

One of Valeriu Munteanu's brother is currently the Deputy Director of Information and Security Service (SIS), while his second brother was deputy chief of Local-Community Directorate.  The press wrote about the latter that he is investigated for setting up auctions worth million of lei.
