A men fell asleep behind the wheel, causing the car to start driving the wrong way and hit a tree. The accident took place this morning, close to 04:00 in Pelinia village, Drochia district.
According to the police, the 35-year-old driver was taken to the local hospital from Drochia. Tests have shown that he was sober.
In order to avoid falling asleep while driving, officers urge:
- Drink coffee or energy drink;
- Maintain low temperature in the vehicle;
- Drive at low speed.
Throughout 2017, falling asleep behind the wheel caused 17 accidents, where 7 people passed away and another 30 were injured.
