Customs Service discovered 1 600 kg of fish, lacking certificates of origin

Customs Service has managed to stop a lot of fish that was illegally brought to Moldova from Ukraine, through Transnistria.
The incident took place on Saturday, after Customs officers have pulled over a minivan at the entrance of Florești village, having the information that it was transporting smuggled goods. After inspecting the vehicle, officers managed to discover 1 600 kg of caras fish, lacking certificates of origin. The 27-year-old man confessed of having purchased the fish from Ukraine and intention to sell it in the Capital.
The lot is worth over 60 000 lei.
According to the protocol, the lot was confiscated and sent to ANSA for destruction, while the suspect will be sanctioned, by paying the lot's worth as well as a fine for smuggling.
