Working through the night: 64 vehicles were cleaning roads in Capital
64 vehicles have been working all night in the Capital to ensure that no roads are snowed in.
"We load up the car with salt and sand."
The only encountered issue was a trolleybus that broke down and had to be evacuated, to avoid causing a traffic jam.
The works were closely monitored by Silvia Radu, who convoked a meeting at Exdrupo, requesting maximum implication to ensure that all roads are cleaned as soon as possible.
"We must concentrate first of all on schools, kindergartens and hospitals. Then the suburbs. Please assist any car that was stuck, that skidded off the road, or any public transport that has difficulties. The sooner we finish everything, the better the traffic will be" interim Mayor of the Capital, Silvia Radu said.
"I consider the work well done. We came from the airport and saw that there are vehicles working everywhere."
"We go at low speed, but so far we managed to do everything in time."
"Without wanting it we accidentally drifted."
Rescuers also had a busy night. IGSU employees had to assist 16 cars stuck in the blizzard. Most cases took place in Cahul and Bălţi.
Drivers who were stuck on the roads of the suburbs were assisted by motorists. Along with police officers, they helped using 7 pickup trucks.
A man was hospitalized with a sprain, after falling on ice.
Last night at the intersection of Decebal and Iurii Gagarin boulevards, an accident took place. Luckily, nobody was hurt.
