Armed robbery at a currency exchange booth in Capital
A man entered a currency exchange booth from Botanica sector of the Capital and threatened the cashier with a gun, demanding money. The suspect fled the site after the operator activated the panic button, but was later arrested on a streets from Capital.
He proved to be a 22-year-old young man who was previously tried for similar crimes. He was found in possession of a gun, beanie and cartridges used at the crime scene. The items were confiscated and the man arrested for 30 days.
During the investigations it was also established that the suspect committed another two thefts in Râșcani, along with another 2 members of the group. Therefore, on March 21, one of the accomplices was arrested, along with a woman that identified all potential victims.
According to the data, the suspects attacked a 64-year-old woman, having stolen her money and gold jewelries, causing a total damage of 113 000 lei.
Later, the suspects robbed another 46-year-old woman, the stolen items and money being worth 24 600 lei. The cases took place in Râşcani sector of the Capital during January - March 2018.
They were temporarily living in Chisinau, while police officers manage to find some of the stolen goods after searches.
If found guilty they risk 8 to 10 years behind bars.
