Pavel Filip: I will monitor construction of Ungheni-Chisinau pipe line
Today, the Prime Minister, Pavel Filip had a meeting with Romanian Economy Minister, Danuţ Andruşca visiting our country on the occasion of signing the privatization contract of VS "Vestmoldtransgaz" by the Romanian company "Transgaz".
The parties mentioned that this contract is a historical one and ensures the extension of the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline to Chisinau, which will increase the energy security of the Republic of Moldova. Prime Minister Pavel Filip said he would personally check the project to ensure its smooth running. The construction of the Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline will start on summer.
The Prime Minister noted the excellent political dialogue between the parties, noting that Romania has been and remains the most consistent supporter of both the efforts to implement internal reforms and the political and diplomatic steps taken by the Republic of Moldova in the context of the realization of the European agenda. A proof of the special relations between countries is the fact that the first bilateral visit, from the assumption of the mandate, by the Prime Minister of Romania, Viorica Dăncilă.
Romania remains the main commercial-economic partner of the Republic of Moldova. In our country there are 1678 enterprises with Romanian capital, and investments in social capital amount to 697 million lei. Romania is ranked 6th in the list of countries that invested in the social capital of the Republic of Moldova and ranked number one in the number of enterprises in which it made investments. Prime Minister has mentioned in particular the arrival of the Romanian bank Transilvania in the Moldovan banking sector, which is a signal that the situation on the financial and banking market in our country has stabilized.
In the context, the parties have agreed to sign an Additional Protocol on Mutual Investment Relief, which will further boost bilateral relations. This document could be signed at a joint meeting of the Governments of Chisinau and Bucharest.
The officials also mentioned the fruitful cooperation in the field of electricity, in order to achieve the interconnection of the power system of the Republic of Moldova with that of Romania. At the same time, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers expressed gratitude to the Romanian side for the constant support given to our country in the repair of kindergartens, social and cultural institutions, the activity of the SMURD Emergency Service, as well as for other important projects.
