President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, who insists on supporting Republic of Moldova on its European path, declared that the country requires assistance and not populist declarations that are helping neither Romanians, nor Moldovans.

Iohannis said that March 27 1918, when Bessarabia proclaimed union with the Kingdom of Romania must be treated with respect, while declarations made on this day carefully examined.

President of Romania has therefore explained his absence from the meeting held by Parliament from Bucharest to mark 100 years since the Union of Bessarabia with Romania.

The official also added that during meetings, both in Europe and United States of America, a separate chapter is tied to the support offered to Republic of Moldova for its European integration.
