ANSA Inspectors are checking the quality of eggs sold in Moldova

Eggs have always been an important aspect of Easter. Therefore this week, people are stocking up. National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) warn that it very important to always check the manufacturing date and ensure that the products are not spoiled. Inspectors have visited a manufacturer from Ciorescu, to make sure that all norms are respected.
Before reaching the shelves in supermarkets, the eggs have a long road ahead. With a mechanized system, the eggs are first sorted, then checked by employees with ultraviolet against contamination.
"Everything is mechanical. There is basically no human factor" deputy director of ANSA, Ion Toma declared.
Afterward, the goods are arranged, washed and weighed. Depending on their weight, the device is sending them to secondary bands, where they are marked and then packed.
Before being sold, the boxes with eggs are inspected by specialists.
"The eggs receive a Veterinary Sanitary Certificate. The temperatures during transportation is checked, afterward the eggs are stored. The optimal temperature is of 4 degrees Celsius", head of the fresh produce department, Vasile Ghemu said.
People claim that they are usually careful with the manufacture dates.
"We must be careful not to purchase spoiled food."
"Eggs must glisten. -What does it means? -That they are fresh."
An egg cannot be kept for more than 28 days after manufacturing. Specialists recommend people to also check the shell of each egg.
"The consumer must be careful with how the product is kept, of its state. The product must be clean, without cracks. The yolk and white has to be clear. People should also take into consideration the smell" deputy director of ANSA, Ion Toma declared.
On the markets from Chisinau, 10 eggs are sold for 18 to 25 lei.
