Starting today, the candidates for the mayor can apply the folder for to the CEC.

"The list of the political parties is done. The all 45 parties that have the right to name their own candidate for the elections. All the parties were registered by the Justice minister", said Alina Rusu, the CEC President.

The candidates from Balti can apply between April 5 and 19. The local elections from Chisinau and Balti will take place on May 20.

In February, Renato Usatii, resigned. A couple of days after that, Dorin Chirtoaca also resigned.

The Usatii's decision came after the trash scandal occurred. Dorin Chirtoaca is investigated for traffic of influence and bribery.

Previously, the Democratic party from Moldova announced that they will support the unique candidate of the Pro-European parties. The announcement was made by Vlad Plahotniuc.

According to him, this person will definitely win the elections.

Till now, five candidates announced they will run for mayor. It is about:

Andrei Nastase, PDA candidate;

Valeriu Munteanu, PL candidate;

Ion Ceban, PSRM candidate;

Reghina Apostolova, SOR candidate;

Vasile Costiuc, Democrats home candidate.
