Andrian Candu: Conditions imposed by EU motivates authorities to do better
President of Moldovan Parliament Andrian Candu presented today during a meeting with MEPs the progresses registered in implementing the Association Agreement. The official declared that the conditions imposed by EU motivates authorities to do better.
"We do not criticize EU, nor complain about the conditions. On the contrary, we like them, as they allow us to be better organized and sets pressure upon the Government and Parliament to work according to the plan" Andrian Candu explained.
Candu has also presented evidence to prove that some accusations made in Brussels, about opposition not having access to mass media, are false:
"In the first three months of the year, Mr. Năstase made 10 appearances on TV shows from various channels. Maia Sandu participated in 7 Talk Shows, while I myself took part in 6 Talk Shows, Pavel Filip in 6 and Mr. Lupu in 3. Therefore, how is the opposition banned from the mass media?"
President of the Parliament also mentioned the progresses registered in the past few years in Moldova. Economic growth in Moldova was of 4.5% last year, as the amount of exports increased by 18% and by 20% to EU member states. This development has also affected the citizens of Moldova, the minimum wage equaling now 118 euro.
Starting 2016, the Parliament begun working, while the Government brought into force 54 normative acts on European integration, compared to the 5 from the year before. Last year, 53 laws were brought into force.
Andrian Candu spoke of progresses registered in Justice system. Moldova now having a new law on prosecution, a body of prosecutors specialized in anti-corruption and another on organized crime and special cases. Other points on the agenda of the meeting with MEPs were those related to reduction of bureaucracy and media law.
