MAI official spent over 150 thousand lei from MAI budget in his own interests
The chief of the Operative Communal Direction of the Informational Technologies of MAI will be judged for abuse of the working privileges.
According to the prosecutors, the Cross Border Infrastructure project of the Common Operational Program, the suspect managed public financial resources contrary to its destination, withholding, based on fictitious documents, material gains from the budget resources of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Thus, as a result of the working visits he paid between February 2014 and March 2015, within a project, he spent 103.491 lei from the MAI budget.
In order to recover the travel costs, the chief of administration presented 19 sets of fictitious documents, including electronic flight tickets and confirmation of their payment, which were not actually purchased and capitalized, the movements being performed with land transport, including the use of a service car, based on travel orders of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to Bucharest, Romania.
The anti-corruption prosecutors established that during this period, within the Cross Border Infrastructure project, there weren't any visits paid by his subalterns. These actions leaded to the spent of another 53 850 lei from the MAI budget. According to the probes, the sum was used by the suspect in his own interests.
Totally, the suspect is blamed of spending 157 341 lei from the budget in his own interests.
If found guilty, he risks a fine of 57 500 lei or up to 3 years in prison. In both cases, he risks to hold any public offices for up to five years.
Also, the instance can oblige him pay the judgement costs worth 30 488 lei.
