Authorities from Bălți are requesting again the Government to help solve the waste issue. According to Interim Mayor, Nicolai Grigorișin, the trash was not evacuated from the city for a few days now, as employees do not have access to the landfill. On another hand, the economic agent responsible for the landfill claim that the City Hall has no right to bring the waste there, as they did not sing a contract.

The meeting of the Bălţi Special Situation Commission was scandalous. Interim Mayor, Nicolai Grigorișin and the landfill's administration, Dumitru Rusnac have only accused each other.

Because the two could not find common grounds, the Commission's members decided to request help from the Government.

"We gather a group of people and request an audience with the Prime Minister, to explain that the city needs help before the holidays" Nicolai Grigorişin said.

Director of the Municipal enterprise responsible for collecting waste claims that they were promised access to the landfill, but only after they will pay for storing the waste.

"They request us to sign and contract and pay them in advance one million lei, only then we will have access to it until May 31" director DRCD, Iurie Hmarnâi said.

Dumitru Rusnac claims that the municipal enterprise has no right to use the landfill. When the new fee for waste collection was calculated, the price did not include storing. According to him, the one to blame in this situation is the interim Mayor, Nicolai Grigorișin.

"The landfill is open and working. In case the landfill will cause an ecologic disaster, Mr. Grigorișin will be the one to blame. In place of solving the issue he is playing politics by summoning the commission" administrator of Salubrity Solution, Dumitru Rusnac said.

The opinion is shared by chief of the City's Service for Emergency Situations.

"Lately the administration tend to put all work on the shoulders of other services" chief of Bălți Service for Emergency Situations, Lilian Butnariuc said.

Local authorities have taken upon themselves to evacuate waste at the end of last year, after annulling a contract with a private company.

It caused a waste crisis to break out and required the Government's implication. Before New Year's 15 vehicles and dozens of workers and carabineers from Chisinau were sent to Bălţi to clean the city.
